The band Štefbet Rifi borrowed their name from Štefan Betek Štefbet (known locally as “Rifi”). The physicist, composer, inventor, mathematician, philosopher, ornithologist, theoretician, writer and many other things was born in 1874 in Zgornja Podlipnica in the Dolenjska region of Slovenia. In a relatively short time the band wrote around 30 original songs which are mixture of refined folk music, jazz, modern chamber music and other various influences.
