ponedeljek, 07. julij 2014

The two main Slovenian early music festivals will offer a wide range of early music from medieval to baroque pieces as well as 20th-century works performed by professional musicians at different venues, mostly castles and churches, important sites of Slovenian architectural and cultural heritage.

The 32nd edition of Radovljica festival  (9 to 24 August) will take place in traditional venues in Radovljica, such as the Manor and St. Peter's Church, and in the Church of the Annunciation in Velesovo. The festival will feature baroque and renaissance musical works as well as some 20th century pieces performed by numerous international musicians and artists from all over the globe. A workshop for singers and a masterclass for recorder will also be offered. Among the performing musicians will be the Italian tenor and actor Pino De Vittorio, Slovene early music ensemble Musica Cubicularis, Benedek Csalog on baroque flute in duo with Dóra Pétery on clavichord, and violinist Žiga Brank with a solo recital of the works of Paganini, Ysaÿe and J.S. Bach.

Les haulz et les bas will perform at the opening concert of Radovljica festival.

This year's Brežice festival  will be taking place throughout summer and will expand it's concert activity in autumn through to December with a varied musical programme of renaissance and baroque musical evenings. Among the highlights of the renowned festival will be the performance of Haydn's opera Orlando Paladino on 29 August at the Grand hotel Rogaška Slatina by young musicians from all over Europe who perform within the framework of the Carinthian cultural project - Orchestra Purpur.

Transportation to different venues will be available on the Festibus, departing from the very centre of Ljubljana.
