Monika Bohinec and Bernarda Bobro perform at the Bregenz Festival and Munich's State Theatre

Mezzo-soprano Monika Bohinec joined the Vienna State Opera ensemble in 2011 and is currently, in the 2014/2015 season, successfully performing new operatic roles, such as Die fremde Fürstin, Sara (Roberto Devereux), Madelon, Suzuki and Grimgerde. Last year she performed in the role of Magdalena under the direction of Italian conductor Daniele Gatti in six stagings of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the prestigious Salzburg Festival.

This summer the singer is performing the role of Amneris alongside soprano Sae Kyung Rim in Torsten Fischer's new staging of Aida. The opera premiere will take place on 18 July at the State Theatre at Gärtnerplatz in Munich.

Another succesful Slovene opera singer soprano Bernarda Bobro will be performing the title role of Pamina (you can view her performance here) with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic Chorus in the traditional staging of Mozart's Magic Flute at the renowned Bregenz Festival, which premieres on the 24 July.



Bobro has been performing at renowned classical music theatres and festivals such as the Vienna Volksoper, the Hamburg State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Lille's Opera House, the Glyndebourne Festival and at the Viennese Music Association with conductor Nicolaus Harnoncourt.

The soprano made her British debut in Laurent Pelly's Hänsel und Gretel at Glyndebourne in 2008 and later in 2012 made her house debut as Violetta in La Traviata at the Royal Opera House in London.
