The RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra embarks on a European tour and the Ingenium Ensemble performs in Brussels

The RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra is starting a one-week tour with guest conductor Daniel Raiskin and violinist Vadim Gluzman. The orchestra will perform at 5 different venues in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands between 13 and 19 October 2013.


Slovenia on Waves

From 3 to 6 October, the largest Central European international club festival and music conference Waves Vienna will take place for the third time in Vienna. This year, it will also be expanded to the partner city Bratislava. At the 2013 edition of Waves Vienna, Slovene musicians will take centre stage.

Big Band Krško at Montreux

Slovene cellist Gal Faganel, professor at the University of Northern Colorado and the Rocky Ridge Music Centre and conductor of the Colorado Youth Orchestra, has climbed Longs Peak, the highest peak of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.


A new revival of the legend of Orlando

The new opera trilogy Orlando, the work of young talented artists, was presented in Germany. The work premiered in Bielefeld (Germany) on 15 June 2013. The music for the first part of the trilogy is the work of Slovene composer Vito Žuraj.


Glasbena matica published a collection of songs by Marij Kogoj

Editor Jože Fürst and editor of sheet music and composer Jakob Jež gave a detailed presentation of the collection at a press conference.


Summer Festivals in Slovenia

In summer 2013 various cities in Slovenia feature numerous festivals of classical, ethno, jazz and popular music, offering a variety of genres as well as more focused music and cultural events. While the Ljubljana Festival will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of composers Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi with performances by world-renowned classical musicians, such as Valery Gergiev with the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra and Riccardo Chailly with the Gewandhaus Orchestra from Leipzig, the Brežice and Radovljica Festivals will focus on medieval and baroque chamber music. Peter Brötzmann, the legendary German wind musician was the guest of the 54th Ljubljana Jazz Festival.


Slovenian Dušan Bavdek's composition among compositions performed at the 100th anniversary of the Austrian Composers' Society concerts

In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the Austrian Composers' Society (ÖKB) (http://www.komponistenbund.at/), whose work focuses on the Austrian contemporary music and on European networking, is organizing a festival with concerts, round tables and symposia from 10 - 17 June 2013.
