ponedeljek, 16. junij 2014

The Aleph ensemble and Slowind quintet joined forces this winter (in February) in France in a performance of contemporary music in honour of Vinko Globokar, one of the most influential contemporary musicians. This spring Slowind held two more concerts in Ljubljana to mark the 80th anniversaries of Globokar and of two other prolific Slovene composers Božidar Kos and Lojze Lebič.

On 2 February, the ensembles Aleph and Slowind performed at the venue of Théâtre Dunois in honour of two composers, musicologists and conductors Réné Leibowitz and Vinko Globokar, whose 80th anniversary was also celebrated. The musical programme featured four compositions by international contemporary composers, among which two were by Globokar and one, La Châtelaine, by Larisa Vrhunc, a Slovene composer who studied in France. At the occasion, attended by many members of the Embassy staff, ambassador Veronika Stabej congratulated Vinko Globokar for his achievements.

The Slowind quintet, which traditionally performes important works of foreign and domestic composers of contemporary music at their autumn festival, further marked the anniversaries of these important and influential contemporary composers (Globokar, Kos and Lebič) with two concerts within the framework of the spring festival Okus po času, ki beži ..., (The taste of time that passes …) at Slovene Philharmonics on 12 and 13 June.

The Festival Okus po času, ki beži ... features some rarely performed string, wind, choral and organ pieces of contemporary music at the Marjan Kozina Hall, a pre-concert discussion with Lojze Lebič, Igor Štuhec and Ivo Petrić, as well as socializing after the concerts.
